10 Quiver Tree Forest &
11 Giant's Playground:
Drive north on B1 from Keetmanshoop. After
3km turn east onto the C16 road. After about 500m turn north
east onto C17. There are signs for Giants Playground, Quiver
Tree Forest and Mesosaurus. After 13km you will see the Signs for Giant's Playground and Quiver
Tree Forest. The Farm Gariganus has self catering igloo accommodation units.
They have a Cheetah enclosure. Good photos.
12 Mesosuarus tenuidens Fossil Site:
Follow the above directions, but continue driving on the C17 road
for about a further 27km. You will see a small reception office on
your left hand side about 20 meters from the road.Highly recommended. The Steenkamps own the farm and are
passionate about their work. You will see wonderful things on their
farm. Not only some of the best trace fossils of Mesosaurus
tenuidens but Quiver trees, Surrealistic Dolerite Rock
formations and hear musical rocks. The tour is worth twice the price
they charge.
13 Brukarros:
Drive north on B1 from
Keetmanshoop. About 78 km north turn west onto M98 Gravel road (signs for Berseba
).After 38km turn north onto D3904 to BrukarrosThis is only for the keen
hikers and those on a guided tour. The lower community run camping area can be
accessed by car. The upper camping area is about 1km up the rock and can be
accessed by foot or 4x4. It's possibly the nearest chance you'll have of
entering the caldera of a Geological phenomena that looks like a volcano, but
isn't.
