Scenic Flights From Swakopmund - South :
These have been carefully planned to take you over some
of the most unusual and spectacular scenery in the world.
1. Coastal Impressions:

Flying south from Swakopmund you see the
picturesque Coastal Dunes and then cross the 'dry' Kuiseb River Delta where
you turn into the vastness of the Namib Sand Sea. Your pilot will tell you
about the different types of sand dunes and how they're formed by differing
wind patterns. Turning northwards at the shipwreck of the 'Shawnee"
and fly along the spectacular coastline known as the Long Wall where massive
dunes tumble right into the sea. You'll see colonies of Cape Fur Seals and
the shallow waters and sand-bars at the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon, a nature
conservation area and bird sanctuary having a large variety of birdlife
including Flamingos and Pelicans. Approaching Walvis Bay you'll see the
massive man-made evaporation lagoons where they harvest the sea-salt. The
production is in excess of 500,000 tonnes per year. Then you have a clear
view of Walvis Bay with its harbour system, and then along the coastal dune
belt back to a short 'spin' around Swakopmund.

3. Flights To Sossusvlei: Tour time + 2hr 10min.
This is the most popular scenic flight taken from
Swakopmund

The Sossusvlei Flight covers a distance of
about 630km. As per the "Skeleton Coast Impressions" tour. But with
this tour you gain a much better understanding of the diversity of
the Namib Desert. The geological features you fly over will impress
pictures in your mind that you will look back upon with fond
memories, and like so many, want to return to the fascination of
Namibia. You'll fly over the picturesque Red Dunes before turning
southwards towards Sossusvlei. Here you flight takes you over the famous Dune45 and along the
famous valley formed as the
result of wind patterns which is flanked by some of the highest sand
dunes in the world. The pilot will fly low to give you a bird's eye
view of the Sossusvlei complex of dunes and dry vleis (lakes). You
then fly across the sand sea and follow the coast, as per the above
tours back to Swakopmund.

number of passengers boarding the flight.

routes weight and balance are calculated with an average weight of 90kg per
male and 70kg per female passenger.
4. Please notify us of
your weight at the time of making your reservation.
5. For safety reasons
Bush Birds cc reserve the right to decide to fly with only 4 passengers -
price of flight per 4 passenger rate applies.

Tip
1:
Reduce Your Flight Costs By Sharing The Flight With Passengers: As you can see from the above price list, if the
plane has 4 or 5 passengers the cost per passenger is reduced. Should you be
touring as a single person or a couple and would like to take one of the
above tours and be prepared to share the flight with another 2 or 3
passengers.
Tip 2:
Make a provisional booking in advance with us:
It is to your advantage to do this if you wish to reduce your tour cost. By
making an advance booking you allow us time to plan your flight with other interested parties and
thus reduce your flight costs.
Tip
3: Most scenic flights are scheduled for the afternoon.
Although there are flights, subject to morning mists, the most popular time
for scenic flights along the coast and to Sossusvlei are in the afternoon,
departing Swakopmund about 3 hours before sunset.
